When we first founded our business, one of our first decisions was that we would be a values-based organization—one that always takes into account all of our stakeholders when making any decision. This means that we consider the perspective of our clients, our partners, our team, our investors and our planet, with everything we do.

This might seem like the obvious thing to do, but unfortunately it’s not a common one, as many businesses make decisions only through the narrow lens of short-term profitability. By instead considering all stakeholders, we believe we will make thoughtful and balanced decisions that will, in turn, create the best outcomes for all of our stakeholders—including, most importantly, you.

Happily, we’re not alone in adopting this approach. In fact, there is a  wonderful organization dedicated to helping businesses focus on creating what many call “conscious capitalism.” That organization is B Lab, and we’re thrilled to share that we’ve just been certified by them as a B Corp.

This huge achievement reflects and cements our commitment to doing things the right way since day one. So thank you for your support—without it, we would not have been able to reach this important milestone for our collective belief in stunning scents that are safer for you, and safer for the planet. Below, you can learn a little more about what being a B Corp means. And if you want to understand the Conscious Choices we made in building our business with all of you, go right here.

B Corp in a nutshell:

1. It means we’ve been certified as a force for good by the nonprofit B Lab, a group of more than 1,700 businesses in 50 countries from 130 industries. The B Lab’s mission? Recognizing and helping businesses that redefine success around addressing social and environmental problems.

2. It means we’re in good company. Other B Corps include Patagonia, Warby Parker and Ben & Jerry’s. (And hey, who doesn’t enjoy a pint of Cherry Garcia from time to time?)

3. It means we’re recognized as seriously committed to making an impact. To become a B Corp, we had to demonstrate transparency, accountability, and an overall social and environmental commitment by passing a comprehensive, company-level assessment. Suffice it to say the B Lab gave us an A.

4. It means we care about our planet, our employees and the people who support our business. Of course, you knew that already. But now we have even more proof that we do.
